Smart Corrections
Automatically replace specific words or phrases in your transcriptions with the text you actually want.
Smart Corrections let you define rules that automatically replace words or phrases after transcription. If Echo consistently writes "my website link" when you say it, you can set up a rule to replace that with your actual URL. If it misspells a name, you can fix it once and never think about it again.
Adding a Replacement
- Click Vocabulary in the sidebar
- Select Smart Corrections
- Click the + button in the top-right corner of the corrections list
- In the Original Text field, enter the word or phrase you want replaced
- In the Replacement Text field, enter what it should become
- Click Add
Using Multiple Originals
You can map several variations to a single replacement by separating them with commas in the Original Text field. For example:
- Original Text:
Voicing, Voice ink, Voiceing - Replacement Text:
Echo
This means any of those three mistranscriptions will be corrected to "Echo" automatically.
Editing and Removing Rules
- To edit an existing rule, click the pencil icon next to it
- To delete a rule, click the x icon next to it
You can also sort your rules by clicking the Original or Replacement column headers to toggle between ascending and descending order.
Enabling and Disabling
Smart Corrections are enabled by default. To turn them off without deleting your rules, use the toggle switch at the top of the Smart Corrections section. Your rules are preserved and will apply again when you re-enable the feature.
Tips
- Smart Corrections are case-insensitive. A rule for "chatgpt" will also match "ChatGPT" and "CHATGPT."
- Use this feature to insert formatted text you can't easily dictate, like email addresses, URLs, or code snippets. For example, set "my email" to replace with your actual email address.
- Replacements work across all languages. For languages like Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Thai, Echo uses substring matching instead of word boundaries, so corrections work naturally with those writing systems.
