Dashboard

Track your dictation stats, see how much time you have saved, and monitor usage trends.

The Dashboard is the first screen you see when you open Echo. It gives you a clear picture of how much you are using voice-to-text and how much time it is saving you compared to typing.

Efficiency Overview

At the top of the Dashboard, two large cards highlight your overall efficiency:

  • Efficiency Multiplier -- Shows how many times faster dictation is compared to typing at 35 words per minute. For example, "3.5x faster" means your voice input is 3.5 times quicker than typing would have been for the same amount of text.
  • Time Saved -- The total time you have saved this month by dictating instead of typing, shown in hours and minutes.

Statistics

Below the efficiency overview, a statistics grid shows four key metrics:

MetricWhat It Measures
Words DictatedTotal number of words across all your transcriptions
Echo SessionsTotal number of transcriptions you have made
Avg WPMYour average words per minute while dictating
Words/SessionAverage number of words per transcription session

30-Day Trend

The 30-Day Echo Trend chart shows your daily transcription activity over the past month. Each point on the line represents the number of transcription sessions you completed that day, making it easy to spot your usage patterns at a glance.

Performance Analysis

You can run a deeper performance analysis on any set of transcriptions from the History view:

  1. Go to History in the sidebar.
  2. Select the transcriptions you want to analyze using the checkboxes.
  3. Click Analyze in the selection toolbar.

The Performance Analysis window shows:

  • Summary -- Total transcripts analyzed, how many have timing data, and how many used AI enhancement.
  • System Information -- Your Mac model, processor, and memory.
  • Transcription Models -- For each model you have used, see the number of transcripts, average processing time, average audio duration, and a speed factor showing how much faster than real-time the model processes audio.
  • Enhancement Models -- For each AI enhancement model, see the number of transcripts processed and average enhancement time.

This is particularly useful for comparing how different transcription models perform on your specific hardware.

Tips

  • Check the Dashboard regularly to see your Efficiency Multiplier grow as you build the dictation habit.
  • Use Performance Analysis to decide which transcription model gives you the best balance of speed and accuracy on your Mac.
  • The 30-Day Trend chart is a good way to see if your dictation usage is increasing over time.
