Profiles
How to create, edit, and manage Adaptive Awareness profiles in Echo.
Profiles are the building blocks of Adaptive Awareness. Each profile is a complete set of transcription settings -- model, language, AI enhancement, output behavior -- that Echo can switch to automatically based on context.
Creating a Profile
- Open Echo and click Adaptive Awareness in the sidebar
- Click the + button at the top of the profile list
- A new profile named "New Profile" appears and is selected for editing
- In the General section on the right, set the profile's Name and Icon
- Configure the rest of the profile's settings (triggers, transcription, AI enhancement, advanced options)
Changes save automatically as you edit.
The Default Profile
One profile is always marked as the default. It acts as the fallback -- when no other profile's triggers match the current context, Echo uses the default profile.
Key things to know about the default profile:
- Echo creates a default profile automatically when you first use Adaptive Awareness
- The default profile is always enabled and cannot be disabled
- Exactly one profile can be the default at any time
- The default profile shows Default Fallback Profile underneath its name in the profile list
To change which profile is the default:
- Select the profile you want to make default
- In the General section, click Set as default
Or right-click any profile in the list and choose Set as Default.
Editing a Profile
Select any profile from the list on the left to open its settings on the right. The profile editor has five sections:
- General -- Name, icon, and default status
- Activation Triggers -- Apps, websites, and voice keywords that activate this profile (see Triggers)
- Transcription -- Model and language selection for this profile
- Intelligent Transformation -- AI enhancement settings per profile (see Advanced)
- Advanced -- Type-out mode, auto-send, media controls, and clipboard behavior (see Advanced)
Transcription Settings
Each profile can override the global transcription model and language:
- In the Transcription section, use the Model dropdown to select a specific model, or leave it on Use Global Setting to follow your main Echo settings
- Use the Language dropdown to choose a language for this profile
This is useful when you work in multiple languages. For example, you could have one profile set to English for work emails and another set to Spanish for personal messages.
Enabling and Disabling Profiles
Each profile (except the default) has a toggle switch in the profile list. When disabled, the profile's triggers are ignored and it won't activate.
- To disable a profile, turn off the toggle next to it in the profile list
- To re-enable it, turn the toggle back on
Disabled profiles remain in your list and keep their settings. They simply stop responding to triggers until you re-enable them.
Duplicating a Profile
To create a new profile based on an existing one:
- Right-click the profile you want to copy in the profile list
- Click Duplicate
- A copy appears with " Copy" appended to the name, starting in a disabled state
The duplicate inherits all settings and triggers from the original. Edit the copy to customize it.
Deleting a Profile
- Right-click the profile in the profile list
- Click Delete
- Confirm the deletion when prompted
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Tips
- Use the search bar at the top of the profile list to quickly find profiles by name.
- The active profile shows a green ACTIVE badge, so you can verify at a glance which profile Echo is currently using.
- When setting up a profile for a specific app, keep the Model and Language on Use Global Setting unless you have a reason to override them. This keeps things simple and means your profiles automatically benefit from any global changes you make later.
